Born in Tallahassee and raised on Florida’s Space Coast, Thomas moved to Atlanta in the late ’90s and lived there for 17 years. Missing Florida for many reasons, he returned to the Sunshine State and now lives in Sanford, Florida.
He holds two degrees in art: a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the College of Charleston and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Animation from the Art Institute of Atlanta.
He has explored many artistic mediums over the years, but is most drawn to illustration, with a particular appreciation for printmaking. His process blends the two through a combination of digital and traditional techniques. He begins with a sketch in Photoshop, refines it with pencil using a light board, then scans the final drawing to add color digitally before transferring the image onto wood through sublimation printing.
His subject matter is wide-ranging, often featuring wildlife and skulls, while leaving room for exploration and spontaneity. He frequently incorporates patterns and visual influences from a variety of cultures. The work balances a whimsical tone with darker undertones, and the use of multiple color variations allows each piece to take on a distinct mood and character.
